Bronze medal 1st Version.There are two versions of this Silver and bronze medal that differ in reverse inscription. This bronze version of which this one is offered for sale was issued to Native troops has “1914-1916” and the second version has “1914-1917.” The reverse inscription of both versions translates to “Cameroon, Ouesso, Assobam, Mouloundou, Yaondé, German East Africa, Kigali, Nyansa, Udjiji, Bujumbura, Biharamulo, Kitega, St. Michael, Tabora.” Medal is complete with correct ribbon. Condition is very good.

The Commemorative Medal for the Africa Campaign was awarded to Belgian military personnel in recognition of service in Africa from 1914 to 1918 when Belgian troops engaged German troops in combat near German East Africa and the eastern borders of the Belgian Congo.
Recipients who served in the 1917 campaign resulting in the capture of Mahenge, Tanzania, were awarded a “MAHENGE” clasp.
