German Great War Funeral ribbon banner for the Somme 1916.
A scarce and very important piece from Great War history 1914/1918. A black silk printed with silver and finished in a silver wire fringe,funeral drape/sash. The sash is to ‘Robert Kurt Hoppe’ of the Reserve Infantry Regiment 104.10. who died at the age of 28 on the morning of the 14th September 1916 on the Somme France at ‘Roucourt’. The sash has the Iron Cross in silver to the top with the words ‘Suffered an heroic death for the Fatherland, son, brother who will always be loved, mourned and never forgot. The sash/drape is in the form of a large bow with the two trails printed upon as above. This is a fragile but good condition item and should be treasured for the memory of this fallen soldier who should never be forgotten like the many thousands who perished on this terrible Great War battlefield. Hopefully this piece of Great War history will find a good home and be looked after for many more years to come.
