Lille Gate Ypres, Feb.1918(Watercolour/Pen & Ink.).
A very good period small pen and ink sketch coloured with watercolours of the Lille Gate Ypres. The picture was sketched and coloured by C.W.Rowntree of the Royal Artillery in February of 1918,when in position at St.Eloi,a little to the left of Wytchaehe Ridge. The picture is mounted on card with glass front edged in black tape. Size of the picture is approx.13cm x 8cm overall size mounted 22cm x 20cm. The picture is signed and details written on it by the artist. Condition is very good considering age and location.
These unique pieces are now becoming much sought after and for the investor/collector of the Great War artefacts, this is a very good item with much history and research still available for this subject.
