37th Division,Machine Gun Corps Brodie helmet 1914/18
A superb and scarce British First War Brodie helmet, of the Machine Gun Corps, the helmet is in good condition with flanged edge and retains some good finish together with a large yellow painted crossed machine guns to the front and the yellow on black horseshoe emblem of the 37th Division to oneside. The interior is in reasonable condition but the liner although present is used and very floppy and is just about attached to the helmet. Part of the leather chinstrap is present under the liner but most is missing. One steel side loop for the strap is broken away on oneside but the other is intact(See photos), the helmet is stamped on the inside rim “HV 605”. Good condition overall and priced accordingly, (if it had been in better condition it would have been priced in four figures).
It should be noted that First War British Brodie’s are becoming increasingly difficult to find and acquire.
