Dummy Home Guard Rifle manufactured by W.Duroce,Tunstall,Stoke-on-Trent.Circa.1940
A scarce dummy rifle made from wood and steel, no working parts whatsoever, the barrel is screwed to the wooden stock through the barrel, the bolt action is fixed and does not move, the trigger and guard are fixed bent pieces of steel just to resemble a real rifle, wooden stock etc. is in good condition the whole of the metal work is painted black and is pitting and rusting beneath the surface, dummy steel magazine holder. The weight is similar to the real thing and these dummy rifles were used for drill etc. probably before the actual real rifle arrived with the LDV/Home Guard. The manufacturers name is stamped into the wood.”W.Duroce,Tunstall,Stoke-on-Trent”. Condition generally very good and a rare piece of Home Guard/Home Front memorabilia.
