France. Great War Interpreters badge.Circa.1914/1918 (Also worn by British Army as sleeve badge).
A scarce and very interesting gilded brass Interpreters badge, mounted on its original green cloth backing(mothed) The badge has two prongs to the base on the reverse and a straight bar across the head of the sphinx where the other two prongs would have been attached. Excellent quality badge with some gilt still remaining. A scarce badge to find.
It is interesting to note that both British & US Interpreters also wore a similar badge, both in a small size and one slightly larger, either on their caps or, in the British case upon their sleeve.
