Russia. Hero of the Soviet Union Citation Document to an Officer in the 280th Rifle Division.(60th Army)Awarded 1943
A now quite rare and difficult to find Hero of the Soviet Union World War Two 1943 dated document still in its original red leatherette gold embossed folder. The document is in good condition however the red ribbon that holds it in place has slightly cut through the top and bottom of the fold in the document other than this, the document is in excellent condition, clean and 100% original. The document is awarded to Golovkin,Pavel Ivanovich.of the 1031st Rifle Regiment.(280th Rifle Division, 60th Army,Central Front. The title of Hero of the Soviet Union was bestowed upon him on 17th October 1943. A very rare and highly collectable item.
Golokin,Pavel Ivanovich was born on 13th July 1920 to a peasant family in the village of Rychkovo,of what is now Istrinsky District,Moscow Region. Nationality:-Russian. Member of the CPSU since 1944.He finished 7 grades of school. he worked as a metalworker prior to joining the Red Army in 1940.
He participated in the Great Patriotic War 1941-45 once its very first day. Lieutenant Golovkin commanded a mortar platoon of the 10331st Rifle Regiment.which in the early morning hours of the 25th September 1943 was among the first in the Regiment to cross the Dnepr River southwest of the village of Okunino, Kozeltskiy District,Chernigov Region. He participated in repelling 12 enemy counter attacks. Golovkin was wounded but did not leave the battlefield.His platoon kept the occupied position for 42 hours until reinforcements arrived.He was awarded the Hero of the Soviet Union for this action.
